ARTS 1702-001 DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY (Introduction to Digital Photography)
Assignment #2 - The Self Portrait
Description: How do you see yourself? How do others see you? How do you view yourself in the world? Photograph yourself, you are not required to show your face, but some part of your body or equivalent (shadow, reflection, etc.) must be in the photograph to illuminate some of these issues for the viewer. Make two images that show two different sides to who you are. One could be how you see yourself, the other could be how you think others see you, or show yourself as someone completely different. You need not get deeply personal with these photographs unless you want to. Think beyond the objects in your living space or hobbies you have. What can you show that will break expectations or show contradiction; think about what drives you and what is important to you. Also think about what would be compelling to the viewers, especially considering they may not know you. What do you want the viewers of your photo to think about you? Due: July 8th at the beginning of class 2 prints (size should be at least 13”x19” or larger) “Compassionate” - “Big Heart” I took a self portrait of my chest and heart to symbolize how I thought other friends/people saw me. =- people talk to me about their problems or they ask for my perspective on things. These two photographs tested me on my first experience with Photoshop… it was a bitch of a time…
